Mrs Helen Powell (Headteacher)

I joined Meath Green Infants as the headteacher in January 2023, and this is my second headship. The first few years of a child's education help to shape their approach to learning and how they feel about being at school. The children at Meath Green Infants are at the heart of all the decisions that we make. I want the children to take away happy memories of the school and set them on the path to a successful education. I work closely with the governing body to make sure that every child receives the best possible education. It is very helpful to work with governors from different backgrounds and fields of work, and to learn from the experiences they bring to the school.

Mrs Kate Evans

I have been a teacher for over 30 years and have taught in London, Surrey and Sussex. I was Head of the Lower School in three different settings.  I have an RSC diploma in Special Educational Needs, teaching both dyslexic children and adults.  I am delighted to belong to the team of governors and be part of a school setting.

Mr Chris Schultze

My involvement with the school goes back to the early 1990s when I was a student myself. 30 years later, my children started on their educational journey the same way I did. I felt that joining the board of governors would allow me to support the school in continuing to deliver excellent educational experiences for the parents, students and staff. I'm a keen outdoor enthusiast and a qualified water activities coach. I am actively involved in Scouting locally and at county level. I am proud to be working with the school community to positively impact its delivery of top quality education.

Mrs Jyoti Makolski

I am a credit risk specialist at Deloitte, leading the technical review and challenge for banking audits. I have 20 years of experience in credit risk and model governance, primarily at NatWest Bank. I bring my experience in providing critical review and challenge to help the ongoing success of the school. I'm a mum of a lovely young girl and I'm passionate about helping to improve children's education.

Mrs Sue Hill

I am pleased to have recently joined the board as a co -opted governor.  I will bring personal and working life experience of varied caring roles within the NHS, Surrey County Council and the private and voluntary sector supporting the elderly, bereaved and adolescents and young people.  I am passionate about the broad welfare of children which includes their access to safe and enjoyable educational learning where they are respected, supported and valued in all their uniqueness.  I have lived and worked in and around Horley for 40 years and feel very much part of the community.  I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

Mrs Alice Oswell

I work with the community to develop projects to improve local health outcomes.  I love being involved in the community at a local level.  My son attends Meath Green Infant School and I enjoy being a governor as it supports the school community and I can offer skills in linking the school into it's local community.

Revd Naomi Ngururi

I am delighted to be a first-time governor for MGIS.  I am a Team Vicar of the local Parish, the Horley Team Ministry, with pastoral oversight for St. Wilfrid’s Church.  My zeal to be involved in the community led me to offer myself as a governor.  St. Wilfrid’s Church has always had links with the school and I felt that it was now time for me to get involved in supporting the school.  With my theological, pastoral and spiritual background, I hope to support the school community in its mission and values in a way that fosters and inspires holistic growth and development.  As a single mother of a young girl, I am passionate about bringing a positive impact to the school community and inspire growth in all dimensions of life.  I very much look forward to working with the wider school community.

Mr Steve Beckett

I have already had two children pass through Meath Green Infant School (now currently at the Junior School and Oakwood respectively) with my youngest currently in Year 1 at MGIS. All three of my children have had an excellent experience at MGIS and I want to make sure that every child has that possibility as well. As is the case with most people that elect to be a governor, I am hoping to take this opportunity to support the school and the local community by providing a parent voice and opinion on school matters. I am a passionate mental health awareness advocate, and I believe that discussions and focus in this area needs to start as early as possible in our kids' lives. I have over 20 years' experience working in Financial Services, focusing on Change Governance, Risk Appetite and Pricing Analysis. I hope that my soft skills of effective leadership, decision-making and caring persona provide the tools required to help the school in every way possible. My "door" is always open so if you see me around the school grounds at pick-up or drop-off, feel free to introduce yourself!
