Year 1
Welcome to Year 1.
Year 1 is an important year when children move from the Early Years curriculum into Key Stage One of the National Curriculum. A smooth and successful transition is vital, and we are careful to ensure that the children start the year with some informal learning through continuous provision and small group activities, moving towards more formal lessons as the year progresses, ready for the challenges of Year 2 by the end of the summer term.
Your child will enjoy an exciting and adventurous curriculum during their time in Year 1. It is designed to build their confidence in tackling the core skills of reading, writing and maths whilst keeping an emphasis on curiosity, creativity, practical activities and fun.
